I recently discovered that my 12-year-old cousin used to do gymnastics at AOGC, Mattie’s gym. I FREAKED out when she told me that she had met not only Mattie, but also junior elite gymnast Samantha Shapiro! I recently watched Sam’s bars routine from Pacific Rim 2008. She was only FOURTEEN and yet so disciplined and amazing. If it weren’t for the 21.91 miles between my house and AOGC, that’s exactly where I’d be doing my gymnastics. In just about 6 months, my cousin was a level 4 gymnast. It might be that my cousin had a natural talent for gymnastics, but you’ve got to figure the coaches and facilities into the equation too.
They should be proud of their silver. But daaangg…poor Mattie; she doesn’t look very happy with herself. At. All. :(
But, hey, look at it this way…they beat China. :)
They’ll do better next time, I’m absolutely positive! <3
